UBC faculty and students head to Winnipeg for the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists Conference

With only a few days to go before the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) conference kicks off, faculty and students from UBC’s Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy are busy gearing up for the annual event.

“The CAOT Annual Conference is a great opportunity to network with occupational therapists from across the nation and share new research,” says Dr. Catherine Backman. “I’m excited to see such a strong showing of UBC faculty and Master of Occupational Therapy students.”

This year, various UBC faculty, including Drs. Ben Mortenson, Susan Forwell, Bill Miller, and Melinda Suto, will be presenting research at this year’s conference, which will be held in Winnipeg.

A number of Master and PhD students from the OS&OT Department are also headed east to deliver research findings and take part in networking opportunities during the annual conference.

For some, like Master of Occupational Therapy student Tiffany Kobbero, it will be their first CAOT conference.

With so many interesting presentation topics, it will be hard to choose which ones to attend,” says Kobbero, who will be presenting results from a study on the supply and demand of private practice occupational therapists in B.C., alongside fellow MOT student Catherine Lynch, principal investigator Dr. Susan Forwell, and Managing Director of CAOT-BC, Giovanna Boniface.

The 2015 CAOT Annual Conference will run from Wednesday, May 27 – Saturday, May 30.
